Entertainment and recreational facilities, dining and banquet rooms, and conference facilities can be noisy as the result of activities of large groups of people.  Goals should be to provide proper selections and quantities of acoustical finishes to minimize reverberation and generated noise in order to improve speech and reduce annoyance factors.  High-capacity mechanical ventilation systems can generate noise that may further interfere with activities.  Ventilation systems should be designed to limit levels of noise emitted from ducted components.

Developments of these types of indoor facilities and various outdoor entertainment facilities such as race tracks, boating facilities, skiing centers, and other facilities can lead to community noise issues as the result of outdoor mechanical systems, crowds, site traffic, and entertainment activities.
